“ Classic Made Perfect I don’t think I could even describe how exceptional my experience was. It's not that the dishes were innovative; they were all traditional French dishes made to absolute perfection. Every dish we had was accurate, full of flavors, and simply mind-blowing. The veal sweetbreads were some of the best I’ve ever had. Before tasting Josephine's dish, Dorian's sweetbreads were my absolute favorite in the world. Even Josephine's daily salad was exceptional, with smoked ricotta on the bottom mixed with buttered potatoes. The beef fillet was cooked to a perfect medium rare, and the peppercorn sauce was just right. The beef tartare was also one of the best I’ve ever had. The desserts complemented the meal perfectly and weren’t too heavy after such a rich meal. The wine selection was amazing, and the service was impeccable. The space is beautiful and gives the feeling of being in a family-owned hidden gem bistro in Paris. ”
“ Excellent meal at Josephine. The souffle was expertly executed, a perfect combination of light yet decadent dairy with a hint of the pepperiness of a good cheese. The baguettes were fantastic, although they were brought to the table without having been ordered and a cover charge of 5 pp included. A small fraction of the cost of the meal, but the kind of unnecessary addition that makes you have to spend longer looking at your bill than you'd like to after such fantastic food. Speaking of which, the rabbit was phenomenal, one of the best things I've ever had. Braised (presumably) to perfectly firm tenderness, and bathed in a decadent sauce that was both meaty and buttery, with a generous amount of tarragon to cut through the sweetness. Perfectly complemented by the puree and duchese potatoes, which proved to be ideal pairings for the indulgent sauce. The desserts were also very good, although slightly underwhelming after a showstopper main. The rhum baba was accompanied by a light rather than a dark rum (the bottle seemed to be empty), but it was suitably generous in providing warmth. Looking forward to going again and trying the equally fabulous looking chicken, not least because the other main courses looked a little on the small side. ”
“ Nestled on a charming corner of Fulham Road in Chelsea, Josephine Bouchon by Claude and Lucy Bosi offers a delightful slice of Lyon in London. This neighbourhood French bistro stands in contrast to the more refined, Michelin-starred environments that Chef Bosi is renowned for, presenting instead a cozy and casual dining experience reminiscent of a classic Parisian bistro. Ambiance and Decor The restaurant’s interior is intimate and charming, with just a handful of tables adorned in a timeless French style. While the seating might feel a bit tight for some, it contributes to the warm, bustling atmosphere typical of a traditional bistro. It’s a setting that invites both casual drop-ins and planned evenings of indulgence, exuding a relaxed vibe while retaining a touch of elegance. Menu and Cuisine The menu is a celebration of family heritage and regional French cuisine. Many dishes draw inspiration from recipes cherished by Chef Bosi's grandmother, making for a selection that feels personal and authentic. Alongside these family classics are traditional French staples, some of which are rarely found on menus in London, adding a refreshing twist to the local dining scene. The a la carte menu offers ample variety, but the standout feature is the seasonal tasting menu, available in two or three courses at a very competitive price. This thoughtful approach makes the restaurant accessible while still delivering high-quality, well-executed dishes. During our visit, we opted for a mix of dishes to explore as much as possible. Each plate was a visual and gastronomic delight, prepared with care and precision. From hearty Lyonnaise specialties to perfectly executed desserts, the quality of the food surpassed expectations. The flavors were vibrant and balanced, with every bite reflecting the chef’s dedication to tradition and technique. Service Service at Josephine Bouchon was exceptional. Our waitress, a professional and friendly Spaniard, added a personal touch to the evening. Her attentiveness and warm demeanor enhanced the overall experience, showcasing the team’s commitment to hospitality. Value for Money Given the high quality of the food and the inviting atmosphere, Josephine Bouchon offers outstanding value for money. The affordable tasting menus, in particular, make it an appealing choice for regular visits, turning this delightful corner of Chelsea into a go-to spot for anyone seeking authentic French flavors. Final Thoughts Josephine Bouchon by Claude and Lucy Bosi is a must-visit for lovers of French cuisine and cozy bistro vibes. Whether you’re looking for a new local haunt or a special place to discover Lyonnaise flavors, this restaurant delivers on all fronts. It’s the kind of place that might just become a weekly ritual—and deservedly so. Highlights: Authentic family recipes, cozy atmosphere, exceptional service, and excellent value. ”
“ Outstanding food, really good preparation and taste. The place was busy for a Tuesday lunch and we had great time, the terrine was delicious,as the bread and the veal blanquette. The table were way too close too, like less than 5 cm each other so a bit annoying. It was difficult even to the service, we had to grab the plates from the server cause they couldn’t reach the table. Pricy but overall a great experience, we will definitely go back! ”
“ An excellent, standout example of an amazing French Dining experience. All the staff were very accommodating and the French Onion Soup was my standout favourite. ”
“ The food has improved significantly since the restaurant first launched. The extended French-focused wine list is beautifully curated, offering a fantastic selection to complement the dishes. Service was attentive and seamless throughout the evening. One suggestion would be to lower the ceiling spotlights to create a warmer, more inviting atmosphere, as the current lighting felt a bit too bright. Baba au rhum a bit dry to my taste but the nougat was delicious! ”
“ January 2025. We enjoyed Josephine 2 days in a row, once for lunch & the next for dinner because it was so good! The atmosphere is our favorite....cozy, buzzing...one can hold a conversation without feeling the need to whisper. There is a science to this magic. Attentive staff & servers. We were recognized on our return visit with warmth. Nice to be remembered. I will check menu and add what meals we enjoyed in the near future. ”
“ Booked for our anniversary and we had such a great time. Started with a delicate cheese Souffle, followed by a Guinea Fowl and Veal Sweetbread (The sauces were an explosion of flavor) and both meats were tender and savory. We even received our desserts with a sweet chocolate note regarding our anniversary. Fantastic restaurant, skilled chefs, professional floor team and knowledgeable sommelier. 10/10 ”
